Continue readingThe theme for the week: hills! On Sunday, I ran a hilly 12 mile long run and then on Tuesday, I did hard 10 x 3-minute hill repeats. I finished the week by racing the 2020 DCRRC JFK 20K on Saturday.
Continue readingNow that the Christmas and New Year’s Day holidays were over, I could focus on marathon training! This week was the last relatively easy one of the training cycle. Going forward, the schedule will have three legitimate workouts a week.
Continue readingI returned from Tampa, Florida very early on Sunday morning, slept for a few hours, and then completed a 12 miler in the rain. Two days later, I ushered in the new year by running the 2020 New Day New Year’s 10K.

Continue readingOn Tuesday, I traveled to the warmth of the Tampa area in Florida for the Christmas holiday. I ran Thursday’s marathon-pace workout in Starkey Wilderness Park. My splits were consistent but felt a little hard.

Continue readingI finished the 2019 New York City Marathon last month in a very disappointing 4:07:46 (9:28 pace). After the marathon, I planned to run the 2019 Brazos Bend 50 Miler but instead spent the next month visiting doctors and taking care of my general health. In the end, I was treated for high blood pressure and a Vitamin D deficiency. Feeling better, I started preparing my 2020 Boston Marathon training plan!

Continue readingThis would have been race week for the 2019 Brazos Bend 50 Miler but I was still recovering from the 2019 New York City Marathon. On Monday, my cardiologist informed me that my “stress test” was normal so I was officially cleared to resume running!
