Running Through COVID-19
So much has changed in the world in the eleven weeks since my Boston Marathon training cycle came to a grinding halt when that race and the London Marathon were both postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Continue readingI finished the 2019 New York City Marathon last month in a very disappointing 4:07:46 (9:28 pace). After the marathon, I planned to run the 2019 Brazos Bend 50 Miler but instead spent the next month visiting doctors and taking care of my general health. In the end, I was treated for high blood pressure and a Vitamin D deficiency. Feeling better, I started preparing my 2020 Boston Marathon training plan!

Continue readingAfter a long treadmill run on Sunday, I ventured back out to the roads on Tuesday and Thursday for some very light speed-work. And, my doctors subjected me to more medical tests to see what might be causing my fatigue.
Continue readingOn Sunday morning, I had a normal blood pressure reading! I celebrated with a 30-minute treadmill run at the gym. The next day, my run around the neighborhood didn’t end well so I retreated back to the reliability of the treadmill on Saturday.
Continue readingNow that I’m back on medication, my blood pressure dropped steadily during the week but still wasn’t in the “normal” range. I felt well enough to run 10 miles on Saturday, though. It was my longest training run since mid-October.
