Continue readingThe week started with a long run on the treadmill but I got in two quality runs on the trails during the week. After six days of running on the treadmill, I reconsidered my racing goals for the fall.
Continue readingMy second attempt at a 50 mile week was successful. I ran a 15 mile long run outside on Sunday. Then, as the temperature climbed close to 80 degrees on most mornings, I did the rest of my workouts on the treadmill.
Continue readingThis week, I tried to get the snap back in my legs by running shorter intervals. Just as I was getting into a training groove, a trip to San Diego for my high school reunion caused me to move some workouts around.
Continue readingThe weather turned hot and humid just in time for my next mileage increase and an attempt at setting a regular running schedule. I ran two workouts over 10 miles and an interval session. Feeling adventurous, I tried a new access point to the Mount Vernon Trail, which was exciting for me!

Continue readingMy long run on Sunday was a little rough. It wasn’t until mid-week that my legs finally felt recovered enough to handle hard workouts. By Saturday, I felt confident about running a marathon again in a couple of weeks!

Continue readingBoth weekday workouts were run commutes because getting up early was a struggle. My strength workout on Tuesday was done in very windy conditions but I ran well. I booked my flight to Boston so there’s no turning back now!
Continue readingNo long run this week as I adjusted my schedule to run hard on Sundays. Only two workouts but I pushed hard on those days, seeking signs from my legs on whether I could set a marathon PR this spring.
